MATERNITY AND NEWBORN
Ask yourself this: why do you want to have your portraits taken? What’s the story that you want to tell? What feelings do you have at this point in your life that you want to remember later? Let’s work together to create a custom session that can best reflect your personal story at this meaningful point in your life.
1. BEFORE THE SESSION
I know how stressful it can be to coordinate photos—there are outfits to choose, a location to select, and so many expectations to live up to, right?
Take a deep breath, because I’m here to help. Once you pick your session date, you'll receive a Welcome Email with many tips on how to prepare for your session and how to choose outfits for your whole family.
This Welcome Email also includes a short questionnaire about who is in the session, a brief description of personality and age group of your child(ren), the general style you’re looking for and the color schemes you like etc. Basically, I just want to know your needs and personality so that I can bring out the real YOU and maximize our time together during your photo shoot in a relaxing setting.
To me, a photographer’s job isn’t done until she’s helped you do something special with your images.
2. THE SESSION
All the outdoor maternity and newborn sessions are scheduled 1-2 hours after sunrise and 1-2 hours prior to sunset to capture your session during the golden hour.
My Hybrid In-Home Newborn lifestyle sessions offer a combination of family photos, snuggly photos with parents and siblings (note that siblings two and younger may not always cooperate for posed photos with baby and may require a parent to take part), and a few posed newborn photos from the comfort of your own home. Don’t worry about cleaning your house and making everything perfect—I’ll clear any space that I plan to use and get everything prepped while you relax with your new baby.
Lifestyle newborn sessions typically last one to two hours. I recommend scheduling your session within ten days of your baby’s due date for the most successful session. If your baby comes early or late, we can adjust the time as needed.
3. AFTER THE SESSION
I don’t just want to send you a link and have you click through all of your images for the first time while you’re at work. I want it to be an experience—I want you to dedicate a moment to being together to see your images for the first time. Trust me, this is the best and most emotional part of your photography experience!
After each session, I’ll have you choose a date a few weeks out to block off an evening or day together to see the photos for the first time. We can meet at your home, a cafe, my home studio or wherever works the best for you.
You’ll start by watching a SLIDESHOW of all of your photos together.
From there, I'll guide you through your favourite images and share products that best suit your home or can be given as gifts. You’ll have a chance to order print products with a one day discount at that appointment. I can even upload other personal photos for you if you want to put together a wall gallery with a mix of photos and help you visualize exactly what your photos will look like on your wall through my online gallery wall designer.
You'll go home with no extra items to be added onto your to-do-list. Let me take care of them from here.
You are all set!!
Having said that, an in-person viewing session may not work for everyone. Don't worry. I'll create an online gallery for you to view your photos from your session and make your selection as well.
2-6 weeks later, your art piece will be delivered directly to your door. Once those portraits are hanging, you can enjoy them EVERY DAY. These are your precious kids —the ones who are growing too fast and who you will cherish them for years to come.
Q & A
When is the best time to schedule my Maternity Session?
The best time to schedule a maternity session is when the belly is big enough to get great shots, but are not too big for you to be uncomfortable. This is usually between 32 to 36 weeks. If you are a first-time mother, you could more comfortably choose a date around 36 weeks. If you are a mom who has already had one, two or more, then it would be safe to schedule around 32 weeks because your baby could arrive earlier.
When should I book my Newborn Session?
I recommend to book before your due date so that you secure your spot. The only thing that I need to know when you book your session is your due date. I will keep my schedule open around your estimated newborn session dates. Once your baby arrives, contact me to schedule your session as soon as possible. The best time to capture your brand-new baby is within 10 days of life.
My Collections range from $310 to $850 for a Lifestyle Maternity Newborn Session.
I also offer a BABY FIRST YEAR PLAN which includes following three sessions:
Newborn/7 Month Milestone /1 Year Anniversary sessions.
(Combinations of these sessions can be customized for your needs.)
The retainer fee is non-refundable, but is transferable in the event that you must re-schedule with 24 hours notice. Signed session agreement and model releases are required for all sessions.
Our custom wall art begins at $175. My typical client spends between $220 and $2000 on photography. Feel free to check out OUR PRODUCTS page. Contact me for pricing.
